The Park Foundation funds undergraduate scholarships at two
institutions of higher learning where the late Roy Hampton Park, Sr., had significant
affiliations and served as a trustee: Ithaca College and North Carolina State University.
Established in 1996, the Park Scholarships are four-year awards that
cover the full cost of attendance (tuition, room, and board). Park Scholars are selected
on the basis of academic excellence, leadership, character, and community service.
At Ithaca College, scholarships are provided to students entering the
Roy H. Park School of Communications. At North Carolina State University, scholarships
are available to outstanding students in all degree programs.
In conjunction with their studies, Park Scholars at both schools are
expected to participate in community service and enrichment activities that strengthen
leadership and communication skills.
Through the creation of these programs, the Park Foundation seeks to
establish a cadre of scholars who raise the academic bar at their respective institutions,
enhance student organizations, and provide lifelong leadership and service in the
communities where they live and work.
