Higher Education The Park Foundation funds undergraduate scholarships at two academic institutions where the late Roy Hampton Park, Sr. had significant affiliations and served as a trustee: Ithaca College and North Carolina State University. Public Broadcasting / Media The Park Foundation values a diverse and transparent media landscape. Its goal is to fund non-commercial broadcasting, investigative journalism, and independent media that is substantive, unbiased, and accurate. It aims to heighten public awareness of critical environmental, political, and social issues to foster a more fully informed electorate. Environment The Park Foundation is committed to raising public awareness of freshwater issues. We seek solutions through funding both established non-profit organizations and modest grassroots initiatives, and we prefer to assist organizations networking with others concerned with these issues. Our initial concentration is in the eastern United States. Sustainable Ithaca The Sustainable Ithaca grants program is focused on the following topical areas: Green Buildings; Transportation; Smart Growth; Natural Systems; Sustainable Institutions and Green Consumerism; Energy and Climate Change; Toxic Threats; Education; and Communications and Leadership Development.
The goal of this program is to help Ithaca become the most sustainable city of its size in North America. This program is focused on Ithaca, Tompkins County, and the Cayuga Lake watershed. Of special interest are projects and programs that link sustainability to the Foundation's Local Grants program priorities in serving underserved populations. Tompkins County, New York In addition to its core funding areas (higher education, public broadcasting/media, and environment), the Park Foundation supports various local causes within Tompkins County.
